I try not to be so serious, anyone can practice yoga- you don't need to come to my class with the perfect zen mind or flexible body. I also like to teach themed classes e.g. heart opening in Feb. and a lot of root work/grounding exercises in winter.
The feeling of slowing down and reconnecting with myself. Eliminating the outside world for a minute.

I approach yoga and life from a trauma informed perspective. Non judgement, compassionate awareness and adaptability are the pillars. I specialize in working with people in recovery from addiction.
I love the self study aspect of yoga and meditation, especially in the stillness of yin. I can deeply and honestly listen to my body, my thought patterns and witness my habitual patterns. This allows me to be able to be more authentic and in tune and supportive of my students.

I am 68 , in recovery 30 years and practice with woman who are going deep in the practice and changing their lives . I am humbled to be able to practice with them.
So, I teach Yin and my best friend teaches power yoga. She says practice with her to work on your body, then practice with Cheryl (me) to heal your mind. We need both to live in this world. Yin compliments all the yang practices and that's what I love.
