Take a Journey of Self Discovery. In this holistic 40hr Yin Yoga & Meditation Training intensive, you’ll be invited on an illuminating and inspiring journey into this beautiful practice and into all layers of yourself with the insightful mandala map as a guide. This program uniquely threads together the core elements of the Yin Yoga practice and will provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to lead yourself or others through a safe, beneficial, and transformational practice rooted in compassionate awareness. Teachers and practitioners of all experience levels are welcome to participate.
Equal Parts Science and Spirit. Sitting at the intersection where ancient wisdom meets modern science, Yin Yoga & Meditation offers deep insights into every layer of who we are. We’ll contemplate its roots in the wisdom traditions of Taoism, Buddhism and mindfulness in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, and the deep relaxation of Yoga Nidra. In Yin, we go in, deepening our awareness of our physical, energetic, metal, and emotional layers as we exercise the critical connective tissues in our body to help them stay hydrated, flexible, and strong.
Yin Yoga Poses are Possibilities. In Yin, we have permission to individualize our expression of each pose, honoring and responding to the body’s moment-to-moment requests. We’ll explore the foundational Yin Yoga postures and experiment with the variations and modifications available as we learn how to find the shape that best meets our body’s needs each time we come to the mat, including ways we can use props to expand the possibilities of the postures.
We are Energetic Beings. As we exercise our physical tissues, we support the balanced and harmonious flow of Qi through the body, that critical life force that animates and activates who we are. We’ll investigate the Taoist roots of the practice, Five Elements & Organ Systems theory, and how we can use the physical poses to stimulate the 12 major meridians, or Qi channels, charting through the body.
Nurturing Compassionate Presence. One gift of Yin is the time and space it offers us to watch and welcome the array of thoughts and feelings that rise and fall within us. As we nurture a meaningful practice, we can greet these impermanent visitors as valuable teachers and offer them our loving attention. We’ll practice effective mindfulness techniques to strengthen our attentional muscles and soften our inner edges as we develop our ability to observe our interior landscape with clarity and compassion.
Live an Authentically Joyful Life. As we cultivate this welcoming presence on the mat, its gifts follow us off the mat, supporting our ability to deepen our relationships with others and ourselves. Our natural state is one of balance and of joy. In the tips and tumbles of daily life, we might find ourselves feeling off-kilter and off-key. Balance is a moving target, so we’ll delve into a variety of meditative techniques to build the skills we need to reliably bring ourselves back to center. We’ll experience mindfulness exercises and breath-sensing and breath-awareness techniques, relaxation methods grounded in the Yoga Nidra practice, and Taoist energy-sensing practices and discuss ways to integrate them into your practice and daily life.
