Use it or lose it! Diligent application of the gentle Yin Yoga stresses helps to maintain mobility in our joints by rehydrating, strengthening, and reorganizing our connective tissues, the yinside of our body. Our flexibility and mobility are most dependent on the health of our joints. If we don’t use these tissues, we lose them. When left unused, the fascia and ligaments atrophy, shortening and tightening. The joint can become what you might think of as “shrink-wrapped.” This tightening of the joint decreases our natural range of movement and impacts how we can move ourselves through the day. In Yin, we use it to help ensure we don’t lose it.
