Free your body. Free your mind. It's Summertime ☀🐉
The light lingers a little longer now. Movement comes easily - whether it’s hiking, biking, or walking barefoot into the heat of the day. Yang energy stirs and pulses. There’s a tangible aliveness in the doing.
But somewhere along the way, the body begins to ask for something slower. Stillness becomes a form of recalibration. Silence offers a deeper kind of listening, one that begins from within.
This Dragon Yin series is a natural counterbalance to all that outward motion. It offers a quiet return to center, a way to meet sensation with curiosity and ease.
The dragon, as a mythical creature, embodies raw, untamed energy. In Yin Yoga, it reflects the strong and sometimes surprising sensations we meet in the hips, thighs, and spine - places that quietly hold our stories, our movement, and our momentum.
With each shape - Baby Dragon, Crouching Dragon, Hidden Toes, Heart Opening Dragon - you can invite the breath into new terrain. Let it move easily through the hips and thighs, flow along the inner legs, and drift down into the ankles and toes. Let it open gently into the upper back, soften through the shoulders, and spread across the heart space…areas that tend to tighten subtly, often held without us realizing until we pause to feel.
These postures offer a way to soften what’s been held and to gently welcome release. They create space for the body to exhale into its own rhythm.
You won’t need much time. Just a few yin-like minutes to nourish the fascia, melt some tension, and create space where the body has been working hard.
There is strength in yielding. There is wisdom in slowing down. The Dragon reminds us that sometimes the softest moments carry the most transformation.
